Ticket To Tech was founded in March 2023 by Aedan Gan and Joel Koh.

The pair had originally begun volunteering as teachers in 2022, providing free coding lessons to underprivileged children with Code in the Community, a program run by Saturday Kids. There, Aedan and Joel quickly discovered their passion for teaching coding and interacting with students.

After Code in the Community came to an end, the pair continued to offer coding lessons to other private students, many of whom came from disadvantaged backgrounds. Inspired by Code in the Community and Joel’s own difficulties in seeking computer science education growing up, the pair decided to start Ticket To Tech.

Since our inception, Ticket To Tech has sought over 60 volunteers and forged partnerships with local charities and schools, which has allowed us to continue offering complimentary classes to underprivileged students. In early 2024, we also began collecting second-hand and damaged electronics to repair them for our beneficiaries. To date, we have refurbished and distributed over 80 devices, and taught over 600 students.
